I was super happy on Saturday. Recommending a place-to-be in Sydney!
Hallo ihr Lieben!
A short list of reasons why my last Saturday was one of my best days in Sydney so far:
1. The weather was amazing! It was around 23C and sunny which is perfect for me. I really like cold weather and rain but after it had rained all the time during the last days I noticed that there really isn’t much you can do to entertain yourself (besides your typical shopping mall and stay-in days which tend to get really boring after a while).
I was also starting to dislike the really hot days even though I was looking forward to them back home. Now, I’m looking for days when it isn’t so humid that your hair won’t dry and not so hot that your brain constantly feels as if it was being cooked :D
2. You know those people that you just get on with straight away and it feels like you may have found a friend for life? I’ve had that with my friend Phoebe whom I spent the weekend with. I was just buzzing the whole time because we had so much fun, had so many same opinions, never ran out of things to talk about and were just open to do crazy stuff, such as buying sparkling party dresses and putting them on staight away. Yup, we wore the dresses in the photos the whole day, grocery shopping and coffee breaks included! There was this one guy we met in a shop that pointed straight at Phoebe as soon as he saw her and shouted that she looked gorgeous in her dress. She obviously did, but hearing it from a stranger like that made it a 100 times better!
3. I talked to a person after I had come back home and when I told them that I had been to Newtown, they said ‘Oh, I love it there! It has a lot of character, doesn’t it?’
‘Character’ is a word I hadn’t considered it while trying to describe the suburb but it is indeed the perfect way to put it. It reminded me a bit of Berlin with all the street art and everybody’s individuality, despite being much warmer and much smaller obviously. If you love arts, colours and a bit of an alternative lifestyle it is definitely your place-to-be in Sydney. Phoebe and I absolutely loved the cheap secondhand everything, from clothing to books, to jewellery to the kind of stuff that you buy and never use, like paintings or cups. They have a flea market every saturday (all of Sydney seems to be very into markets, I’m in heaven!) that you should really check out if you have the chance.
Also if you’d like to be inspired fashion-wise, just take a little walk around and you’ll see tons of people that look like they’ve stumbled straight out of crazy successful fashion blogs. It really makes you want to pull a Carrie Bradshaw and go little crazy with your outfit! My desire to buy hot pink pumps to go with my sparkling 80ies dress was almost overwhelming :D
I really hope your weekends were as successful as mine and I wish you nothing but happiness for the following week! I’m going to Melbourne for the first time ever next weekend to finally meet my lovely friend Naomi and I couldn’t be more excited. What are you all up to?
Love, Carry <3
