Hallo ihr Lieben!
Feeling festive yet? Up until yesterday, I hadn’t. As you may or may not know I am working as a waitress until I’m moving to Australia next month and it’s incredibly stressy, especially around Christmas time. I am working almost every day, mostly on the evenings (which really helps if you want to ruin your sleeping schedule forever :D) and on the weekend. It hasn’t really let me any time to get into the festive spirit. I think I felt the most christmassy in September when I was meeting up with a friend very often, watching movies and drinking tea, but in December it was just working and ordering Christmas presents online.
As you can imagine, my best friend (who is also a waitress) and I had no other choice but to do the most festive thing we could think of: visit a Christmas fair. We decided to go to Kassel, mainly because the fair was recommended to us by my grandma who called it ‘lovely’, and experience the whole joy of a fairytale themed Christmas fair. All in all, it was the best day I’ve had in a very long time. We started to drive around midday and arrived at Kassel around two hours later. The fair is lovely, there is a ferris wheel and many little booths who sell decorations, hot wine and food. I don’t know how popular Christmas fairs are outside of Germany, but if there are any where you live, I highly recommend you visit one. I think they get more fun the bigger they are (there was one in my tiny hometown with literally only around 8 booths or something) because it’s great to be able to walk around admiring the atmosphere and light. We finished our day visiting a Starbucks (order a Toffee Nut Latte when you get there next time, it’s amazing!) and then drove home.
My next days leading up to Christmas are finally going to be a little calmer. Tomorrow my friend Lena, who is back from Cardiff, and I are going to the cinema, my family and I are going to decorate the Christmas tree, I am going to wrap a ton of presents, meet up with some friends to exchange presents and generally try to get festive. There is probably also going to be another post during the next days.
I hope you’re having a lovely day and lots of love,
